Coach Ari Ramirez
In high school, I was thin but by no means in shape. I never thought about what I ate or engaged in much physical activity. My lack of enthusiasm caught up to me my first year in college. I moved away from home and further away from a healthy life style. The “freshman fifteen” yeah, that was me. At 5’0 my small frame is not equipped to handle any extra weight. I decided to start working out and began riding my bike to school, as well as going to the gym a few days a week. That helped my weight and self esteem and I definitely noticed a change in my attitude and overall energy. Eventually, I increased my physical activity and things were looking up. I graduated, moved to L.A. and decided to run the 2007 L.A. Marathon.
Maintaining any physical activity proved to be even more difficult when I started law school. I noticed my physical activity decreased significantly and my stress level increased exponentially. I realized that I needed a goal if I was going to remain motivated. So I decided to train for my second marathon. Although I was running anything from 10 to 35 miles a week, I needed something more. In 2009, I signed up for my first half marathon, AFC. A month before the AFC, I joined CrossFit 619. Soon after meeting Chris Keith, I learned not only the importance of healthy diet, but the value of it. I followed the the program, I continued running and doing CrossFit. Within a couple of months, I lost 10 lbs and noticed a significant increase in my strength and stamina. I stuck with CrossFit and Chris Keith. In 2010, I signed up and completed the Triple Crown and shaved off 10 minutes off my AFC time from the previous year. No, I didn’t do extra running, in fact I probably ran less. I credit CrossFit with preparing me and making me a better runner, and overall better athlete.

Coach Josh Sommo
Before CrossFit I was heavy into Powerlifting. While serving in the US Navy I was introduced to CrossFit by my best friend. I was immediately hooked. I fell in love with the challenge and unknown of each WOD. I played high school sports and I was familiar with training for performance. CrossFit has also sparked my interest to go to school and work on my degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Athletic Training. I hope to eventually obtain my doctorate in Physical Therapy with a masters in Orthopedic Therapy. I love working with athletes day in and day out. Nothing more satisfies me then to see my athletes come in and push themselves and set new personnel records. Im a certified Level 1 CrossFit trainer.
Coach David Miller
A life time of sports plus 26 years of Olympic Weightlifting Competition and Coaching has solidified my base knowledge for assisting athletes become stronger, more explosive competitors. I specialize in strength training athletes and fitness enthusiasts interested in improving their sports performance and general health.
Olympic Weightlifting is one of the most popularly contested athletic events the world over. The lifts begin with weight resting on the floor (or platform) and finish with the athlete standing and the weight securely supported overhead. In order for these athletes to have the ability to support heavy weights overhead – not to mention getting them there. Weightlifters have developed tremendous hip-torso power and stability – CORE STRENGTH.
I believe very strongly that practicing some of the techniques used to train competitive Olympic Weightlifters, modified for an individuals’ ability, skill, experience, etc. will improve everyone’s fitness level!
I have documented improved performance in vertical jump height, sprint speed, balance, coordination & flexibility for athletes in sports such as Basketball, Baseball, Football, Hockey, Martial Arts, Track and Field plus Modern Dance…. not to mention a few Weightlifters.
